Our Story

Founded on Engineering Precision

Nexans Cables was established in 1997 in Lyon, France, with a singular focus: manufacturing industrial cables to the highest measurable standards. What began as a specialist manufacturer of fire resistant cables for the petrochemical sector has grown into a comprehensive cable solutions provider serving energy, data, transit, and heavy industry markets worldwide.

Today, with 680 engineers and specialists, we produce over 15 million metres of industrial cable annually. Our products are installed in more than 4,200 projects across 62 countries — from offshore platforms in the North Sea to data centres in Southeast Asia.

Production Capabilities

Our Lyon manufacturing campus houses five dedicated production lines, an ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory, and a custom cable development centre.

Copper Rod Drawing & Stranding

Continuous rod breakdown from 8mm to 0.5mm with in-line annealing. Stranding capacity from 1.5mm² to 630mm² conductor cross-sections. Class 2 (stranded) and Class 5 (flexible) per IEC 60228.

Insulation & Sheathing Extrusion

Five CCV (catenary continuous vulcanisation) lines for XLPE cross-linking. Triple extrusion heads for simultaneous conductor screen, insulation, and insulation screen application on medium voltage cables.

Armouring & Screening

Steel wire armour (SWA), aluminium wire armour (AWA), and copper tape screening lines. Double-layer armouring available for subsea and direct burial applications requiring enhanced mechanical protection.

Quality Testing Laboratory

ISO 17025 accredited facility performing high voltage withstand (up to 100 kV), partial discharge measurement (<5 pC), insulation resistance, and mechanical testing. 100% of production undergoes routine electrical testing before dispatch.
